Mary Jane is a registered member of OAMHP, The Ontario College of Social Work and is an Associate Member of BESTCO (Board of Examiners in Sex Therapy and Counselling in Ontario)
Mary Jane Millar attended the University of Western Ontario for a BSW and went on to complete an MSW at the University of Calgary at the only International Social Work Program in Canada. She has 20+ years working experience in the mental health and trauma-related fields.
Mary Jane practices Sue Johnston's EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). The aim of EFT is to reshape the attachment bond between the couple and create more effective co-regulation; increasing an individuals' self-regulation and resilience. The secure bond may become the best antidote to traumatic experience from within and outside of the couple relationship.
She has trained as a Level I & II PACT therapist. PACT (psychobiological approach to couples treatment- Stan Tatkin) is a specialized type of couples therapy that is a fusion of attachment theory, developmental neuroscience, and arousal regulation. PACT is gaining a reputation for effectively treating couples typically thought of as untreatable.
Mary Jane is a certified EMDR therapist. She received her training through the EMDR International Association. She also received intensive training and supervision for Image Transformation Therapy with Robert Miller.
Mary Jane practices from an anti-oppressive, sex positive framework in order to create a safe space for intervention and treatment.
